Arriving to assist the kingdom of Gondor, the Rohirrim crest the hill over the Pelennor Fields. Sunrise behind them and the smear of battle before them. King Theoden knows he leads his people to their doom, and still leads them forward.

Spears shall be shaken, swords shall be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! 
Ride now! Ride now! Ride! Ride for ruin, and the world’s ending!

Theoden and all his Rohirrim charge into battle, into their doom, and embrace death with a fierce cry, choosing to fight until the absolute end. 

Death! Death! Death! is the darkness of battle and evil attempting to overtake the light of the sunrise. Inky purple-black over pale yellows, oranges, and blues. Light in the face of darkness.
