Rocky Shoreline

Rocky Shoreline is a color that is almost impossible to pin down. Deep black-grey, with undertones of blue, green, and brown. (NOTE: it is also -incredibly- hard to photograph. I’ve done my best, but the color shifts in even the subtlest lighting change.)

 The shoreline of most of our favorite beaches in Ketchikan are dark and jagged, formed by a shale-like rock called phyllite. It makes for the most dramatic of rocky coasts, contributing to Ketchikan’s moody appeal.
